Original question from Quora:
What are the drawbacks of using Amazon S3 to host a static website?
The biggest drawback to using Amazon S3 to host a static website is that it’s a pain in the butt to configure. If you follow the various guides on the internet, you can make it work, but it’s not much fun. Speaking from experience, it’s easy to screw up your configuration the first few times you set it up.
My business partner and I made Static Hosting to solve this problem. Configuration is easy and you simply upload your site as a zip file. We are more expensive than Amazon S3 - we charge $5/month per site, which we believe is fair.
